My Time at BT was a learning albeit short. A vast portfolio of ageing properties offered many opportunities not seen in other Facilities environments.

Managers quite happy to humiliate you in front of colleagues if you do anything wrong. Environment very outdated with mainly broken chairs to sit on resulting in great discomfort throughout the shift. Managers are very two faced and will write up reports about your performance rather than point out where you are going wrong and assisting to resolve issues. Before you know it you are hauled in for a disciplinary meeting and they will continue to follow this line of management style until you are totally worn down and disgusted and give up your job.
They have no respect for customers and you may be trying to assist a concerned elderly person whilst a manager is screaming in your ear to sell them a mobile phone.
Too much emphasis on targets and none on actual customer or staff satisfaction.
If you want to work for a company that will treat you fairly and respectfully, go elsewhere. BT is not for you.
Colleagues are supportive of each other out of earshot of management
Managers need training in good management practices.

This was by far, the worst Employer i have ever had the misfortune to work for, regardless what you are told, you are treated like a number and judged by how much you nag a customer, regardless of age, to part with as much money as possible and with as many services as possible, regardless whether they want them or not.

Disguised under the heading "customer value", this is not value of the customer but how much they are paying to BT (the value of the products they are receiving).

You are ignored and treated like nothing unless you haven't earned them enough profit, then you are on their radar, penalised for not "selling" a monthly subscription to a "freeview" service,
free internet after 6 months employment if you have a bt contract
try to dissolve your ethics and morals to maximise profit

Only work at BT Engage IT for two years, but the culture changed very quickly from when i joined. This was the only company i worked for where i was reduced to tears on more than one occasion by management.

Working for BT brings many benefits and few negatives. A really nice office environment and decent equipment to work with. The people are a great bunch and selected on their ability to interact well within a team. Colleagues are expected to put forward ideas and suggestions on how to improve their jobs and, where possible, these are implemented. I suppose that the hardest part of the job is also the most enjoyable. BT is a huge company with 1,000's of employees, so it is possible to feel like a tiny cog in a massive machine, but any outgoing individual will have no problem making many friends and acquaintances.

I was a cleaning supervisor which I loved it I made a lot of friends who I still have in contact with I learnt so many things such as,health and safety risks working with the team of 21 cleaners who I enjoyed working with I have worked with all types of different cultures which I enjoyed I think the most I enjoyed about bt was the staff and the environment every one was nice to me and I was polite to my staff.
